One of the most beautiful and prized possessions in this
world starts out as a rock covered in a black
carbon substance. This rock is searched for by one
patient who sees more than the dirt
covering it. The find of this man is taken back with
him, and he carefully cleans it up and prepares
to work on it. Through many bumps and the grind
of sand paper the inner beauty of this rock
begins to shine. Yet the process of this most prized gem
is not yet complete. The gentle hands of the one
sanding must then cut and shape the diamond. After a
period of time and loving care, the diamond
shows the beauty it has been created for. As the light
hits each cut, it brilliantly shines with awe and
splendor. This diamond does not reflect itself, for it
was nothing on its own. Rather, it reflects
the maker, who through sanding, cutting, and shaping,
brings forth the beauty of the maker's hand.
As I think of the diamond, I am reminded of myself.
The finding of the diamond in it's filth is
myself when God Almighty found me in my sin.
I was but nothing, yet He saw what He could
make me to be. He cleaned me up and used Life as my
sanding. The grind of each day slowly smoothed out
the rough edges. Yet, the process not done. God
uses people to cut & trials to shape. Yielded in His hands,
God can make what He wills. Though each cut
hurts, it is only to make me what would be pleasing
to Him. At the end of my life, I pray that I may
end up as that diamond once completed. When God's
light shines on me, may you not see me and who
I am, for I am nothing, but may each flicker & shimmer
reflect the Love, Care, and Greatness of my
Master's Hands.
